The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for engineering and operations within the nominated Amazon Data Center including risk management, mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management and metric reporting. Your day job will include (but not limited to):
Managing and developing teams of engineers (who work 12-hour shift, operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment) providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.
Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers where appointed and required.
Helping build and bring online new Data Centers via engagement with construction management and vendors.
Constantly improving all our processes and procedures. We believe there is nothing we cannot improve.
Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors.
Liaising with internal teams & management groups.
Ensuring we adhere to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all our Data Centers.
Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of our Data Centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.
Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.
Response to and management of critical events during and outside of work hours and participation in secondary on call rotations for technical and managerial support to the on site technicians.
Ensure personnel on site are adhering to Amazon safety and environment policies and standards. Providing mechanisms and controls to ensure personnel identify and mitigate safety risks.
Liaise with security management and ensure DCEO personnel and contractors adhere to security protocols and procedures. Ensuring all visitors and site personnel adhere to security requirements.
Develop, initiate and manage controls and mechanisms to ensure preventative, reactive and corrective maintenance is achieved on site. Ensuring personnel are trained, competent and suitable to operation of equipment.
Engagement and support with other data centre sites in the region to collaborate on region wide programs and technician development plans.
Key job responsibilities:
Weekly site safety inspections
Metric reporting and management
Technician development planning and engagement
Shift management and scheduling
Preventative, reactive and corrective maintenance planning/delivery (collaborate with the site Chief Engineer to ensure they and the team of technicians have maintenance planned, completed and recorded)
Safety management and corrective actions
Financial management of DCEO operations including invoicing, purchase orders and vendor management
Weekly environmental review and actions
Weekly safety actions and mitigation plans enacted
Basic qualifications:
An engineering degree or equivalent
5+ years of relevant engineering experience managing large scale services
At least 3 years building strong, successful technical teams in a similar culture
High degree of organization and detail-orientation
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proven track record of success in delivering complex projects
Prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or product
Ability to consistently deliver results despite competing priorities and distractions
Preferred qualifications:

Management training or qualification
Drivers license
Health, safety and environment knowledge and training
Mechanical or electrical system training or competency
